About the event
Point-to-point ski mountaineering race from Crested Butte to Aspen, about 40 miles across the Elk Mountains with more than 6,800 vertical feet of climbing. Racers compete in pairs, carry mandatory gear and start at midnight, when avalanche hazard is lower; it is run as a fundraiser for the non-profit Crested Butte Nordic and is capped at 500 racers (250 teams).
